 2018 Preview 


       Pike Liberal Arts completed the 2017 season with a 7-5 record. With their 3-2 region record and a fourth place finish in Class AAA region two, the Patriots earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Pike Liberal Arts's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Tuscaloosa Academy by a score of 28-6.

       Since 2010, Pike Liberal Arts has gone a combined 43-44. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class AAA over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Pike Liberal Arts has managed to compile a record of 137-121. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class AAA and 18th in the AISA.




       The Patriots are led by head coach Gene Allen who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 27-28 over the past five seasons at Pike Liberal Arts. Under his direction the Patriots have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Allen.

       Coach Allen's overall record as a head football coach in twenty-two season stands at 116-124 (48.3%). His 116 wins rank 10th among active coaches in the AISA. Over the course of his career, Coach Allen's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of twelve times and won four region championships. Coach Allen won a state championship at in 1994.

       The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots will play in Class AAA region two during the 2018 season.

       Region two will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season. The Patriots should be in contention for a playoff spot in region two this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Patriots open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Crenshaw Christian on Friday, August 24 at Cougar Stadium. Last year the Crenshaw Christian Cougars finished with an overall record of 8-4 and in second place in Class A region one. The Cougars lost in the semi-finals round of the Class A playoffs to Patrician Academy by a score of 27-20.

       Pike Liberal Arts and Crenshaw Christian have met a total of 26 times on the football field. The Patriots have a 15-10-1 record against the Cougars. They last met in 2005 with Pike Liberal Arts winning by a score of 36-13.

Thomasville scored 54 points against Gulf Shores in the first quarter of a game in 2003. They managed to hang on for an 81-14 win.
